Mina, a average teenage girl just wants to fit in her last year in highschool but the only thing that is getting in the way of this is that her mom and dad are both VAMPIRES!!! It never really mattered to her or occured to her that big of a deal until one morning; Mina was just getting ready to eat her breakfast when her parents tell her they really need to talk. They say it had come to the time in her life where she needed to make a life changing decision for herself. She had to choose weather or not she wanted to become a vampire! Everyone knows their answer right away most people saying, 'OBVIOUSLY, who doesnt want to look as good looking as edward cullen! SERIOUSLY!!!" In the story she says that none of this was true.
Vampires didn't sparkle in the sun (however they did need a TON of sun block or they would burn all the way in the sun), they did not have to look good, they didn't only drink blood they could eat food if they wanted to! She knew this all for a fact especially using her uncle Mortie as an example. Over weight, no manners, not so good looking, and ate like he had never eaten before. Her mother didn't really like the manners uncle Mortie put on at the dinner table.
Mina did NOT want to become a vampire at all and to make it worse her english teacher decides they should do a project about count dracula! Mina really wanted to tell her best friend, who now became a gothic. They had been friend for so long and she really wanted to tell her everything to let it out but it wasn't aloud it was too big of a secret. Mina comes home to meet a new girl along with her uncle Mortie. The new girl was a vampire that worked with the vampire counsil and she said that Mina had to go to vampire lessons before she makes her big decision. Mina hated the thought of it. She could just imagine all these people who really want to be vampires and Mina really didn't want to be vampire.
Mina's uncle Mortie was in charge of teaching her all she needed to learn aside from the classes, her parents weren't so proud of this but they knew she had to. If anything, Mina would have chosen uncle Mortie last from all the people who could teach her. At dinner she had to much to handle in a day so she wen't to her room and wrote about how she hated the decision and how much she needed to let it out to somone!
As the book continues reading page after page, Mina's decision didn't even change a bit. Not even thinking about it twice she knew her decision, she didn't want to be a vampire and nothing would change that.
Merina, I'm not asking for a summary of the book, but rather, in prompt #1: the journey, and #2: the qualities of the protagonist
